The New Zealand Forest Experience

Whirinaki Forest1.jpeg

You can ride a bike through the forest in most places in the world, but the forests of New Zealand's North Island are absolutely unique. Our “jewel in the crown” is the Whirinaki Forest. This rarely visited area is home to giant ancient podocarp trees, dense tree ferns in the sub-canopy and an astonishing array of native birds that are seen daily here, but rarely in other wilderness areas. It’s a shining example of how New Zealand looked, sounded and smelt before human arrival almost a 1000 years ago.

So, a ride through a forest such as Whirinaki is a step back in time and into a pristine area of bio diversity unlike any other on the planet.
