Q: Do I need to be super fit to join a trip?

A: You don’t need to be really fit to join us on one of our guided biking tours. Just as long as you’re in the habit of doing a little exercise, then you’ll find that’s more than enough. We’ve made sure that our trips are full of options, depending on how much you’d like to ride. For example - our Whirinaki Forest Wilderness Day trip is a 16 kilometre undulating loop, with options to ride only half, or even a third of that distance, and always experience the forest.

Q: Do I need to be an experienced biker?

A: Nope! You certainly need to be able to ride a bike, but we make sure that our rides will suit your level of riding and comfort, and it’s really all about the environment we visit, as much as it is about the biking.

Q: Is there a bike that will fit me?

A: Yes! We have a range of  top quality full suspension bike to fit all sizes and abilities. We make sure it’ll be fitted out just for you, so you’ll be riding comfortable and safely.

Q: is there an age limit?

A: Nope. Essentially, if you're old enough to ride a bike, and young enough to stay on it, then you're good to go. We’ll make sure we find a spectacular ride that’ll suit your age and ability.

Q: Do you run family trips? Is it ok for kids?

A: Yes! Absolutely. There are some amazing kid friendly trails in the Redwoods Forest. So if you’re looking for family things to do in Rotorua, our Rotorua Redwoods Half Day is a good option for parents and kids. We provide kids bikes, but get in touch so we can arrange the right size bike beforehand.

Q: Who will be guiding me?

A: Our guiding team is made of bike-obsessed, energetic, & humble people with years of experience guiding not just mountain biking tours, but everything from multi-day expeditions in various parts of the world, wildlife trips in Antarctica, and all things locally in the Rotorua area and the North Island. Meet some of our guides.

Q: What’s included in my trip?

A: In short, pretty much everything. From the moment we pick you up, to when we drop you off, we’ve got the day covered, that includes: guiding, meals, snacks, entrances, transport, bike & helmet.

Q: What should I bring on a New Zealand Mountain Biking trip?

A: For all our guided biking trips, you’ll just need to bring with you covered shoes, a water bottle, a small backpack, light rain jacket and a warm layer. It never really gets that cold up here in the sub-tropical north, but it can occasionally get chilly or it could be raining. On our Whirinaki Forest Wilderness Day and Ultimate Rotorua Dream Day, you’ll need to remember to bring some swimwear!

Q: Does it matter what the weather is like?

A: Not really. If it’s raining, our forests come alive! Being under the forest canopy in the rain is quite exciting, and we ride trails that aren’t affected by rain. High winds aren’t really a factor either, as it tends to be dissipated on the edge of the forest, and calm down on the ground where we’re riding! Of course, we keep a very close eye on the weather, and if there’s any big weather event, we make a call as to whether it’s appropriate to head into the forest.

Q: Can you pick me up and drop me off at my accommodation?

A: If you’re in Rotorua, we’ll pick you up from wherever you’re staying, and drop you off at the end of the day. If you’re traveling to join us from a little further (Taupo, Tauranga for example), then let us know, and we’ll tell you where to meet us.

Q: Can you cater to any food requirements?

A: Yes! No matter what your food requirements you have, we’ll make sure you enjoy a delicious lunch with all the trimmings (excluded: Rotorua Redwoods Half Day). Vegetarian, vegan, omnivore, carnivore, gluten free, lactose intolerant, nut allergy, brussell sprout allergy (who ACTUALLY likes brussell sprouts??)... you name it, we can cover it. Just let us know in advance.

Q: How many people will be in a group?

A: Anywhere from 2 people to 8 people. We like to keep groups small, so that you get the absolute best from your guides in a personable and authentic way.

Q: How often do trips depart?

A: We are able to run our trips everyday.
